What We Can Expect in Summer 2016

Nintendo has released a video demonstrating two of the sixteen upcoming summer titles.  First, they introduce a competitive puzzle game similar to Pokémon Puzzle League called Tumblestone.  The multiplayer aspect includes comparing scores and playing with friends across the internet.  For the less social gamers, the game has a complex story mode as well with a dozen different characters, each with their own environment.

The second game they demonstrate is a side-scrolling NES style RPG that plays similar to the classic Metroid games.  Axiom Verge was released in 2015 for multiple platforms and will be released for the Wii U this summer as well.  Mixing combat with exploration, Axiom Verge has a classic feel of action adventure games with a new storyline.

Additionally, Nintendo mentions numerous other side-scrolling games being released this summer.  These include titles from Shantae, Noitu Love, Jotun, Azure Striker GUNVOLT and The Battle Cats as well as the original titles Super Meat Boy and Ectoplaza.

More than doubling its fundraising goal, the fourth Shantae title has taken the gaming world by storm.  Shantae:  ½ Genie Hero is now coming out for the Wii U after success on multiple other platforms.
