Despite the project not being from Nintendo, The Legend of Zelda Maker is real, it is made by a hardcore Zelda fan.

You can view a trailer of the game’s alpha version in the video above. The biggest issue with this is how illegal this is which the deveoper is already prepared to make the game less of a copyright infringement.

“Nintendo will cease and desist a project like this, so in time, when I’ve got the ability to change the sprites, I will do so, and I will also add things that Zelda games don’t have to make it a somewhat unique experience,” said the developer. “Regardless, I won’t be acting like this isn’t going to be a Zelda (Maker?) clone, through and through. I’d just like to add some things that I think official Zelda games could use. This is a very early build of the game, and it does not represent what the final game will look like.”

You can grab the DIY-adventure game via Dropbox or Mediafire.

Nintendo’s Super Mario Maker is doing quite well for the company so it shall be interesting to see if they branch out and make a franchise out of it.

Sadly, it looks like this will end up being a generic Zelda style Mario Maker type game. This will be done to avoid a C&D.

Sounds and looks great from what has developed. Wouldn’t surprise me if Nintendo follows suit with its own Zelda Maker (Official) given the overwhelming response of gamers into Mario Maker.

Nintendo should hire the developer and ask them to make a game just like that, but without the copyright problem. I’m pretty sure that Nintendo will get lots of money off that.

Is this illegal or did I read it wrong? Anyway, this seems like a cool game. Love to try it some time! Also excited to see who wins the Giveaway!
