The now sold-out Legend of Zelda wristwatch by ThinkGeek is a great addition to any Zelda fan’s collection.
The design is sleek while holding onto an artifact look at the same time. This watch looks as if it was unearthed in one of the many temples throughout the series. The subtle hints of hold matched with the beautiful Hylian crest center emblem is really well designed. The only complaint I have is that the watch has a silicone band and not a matching metal set, but I don’t hate that part of the design to say it ruins the watch.
I will say one of the two small drawbacks to this watch from being an everyday worn watch is that there is no glow or back light effect to tell time in dark places. I suppose in today’s world of having a cell phone in your pocket it’s not necessary to be able to see a wristwatch in the dark, but I think this could have added to the watch.
The other small drawback on this issue is that the watch does have a little more heft than a normal wristwatch. It doesn’t make it unbearable, but it is noticeable.
The watch ships well protected, including a clear face protecting sticker on the watch face.
Overall, this is a pretty nice wristwatch and is worn almost daily and is a great talking piece among friends when they notice the bold Hylian crest in the center.
ThinkGeek does not have this item listed anymore, so whether or not it was a limited item is unknown. At the price of $39.99, I’m assuming the October release was overwhelming for early holiday orders and they’ve removed the listing until they can fulfill all orders, though that’s my best guess.
